Blog Tour: Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Quintessentially Q by Pepper Winters, the sequel to Tears of Tess.  The tour is hosted by CBL Book Tours, and you can follow along here.

Release Date: December 15th, 2013
Genre: New Adult Erotic Suspense Romance

“All my life, I battled with the knowledge I was twisted… fucked up to want something so deliciously dark—wrong on so many levels. But then slave fifty-eight entered my world. Hissing, fighting, with a core of iron, she showed me an existence where two wrongs make a right."

Tess is Q’s completely. Q is Tess’s irrevocably. But now, they must learn the boundaries of their unconventional relationship, while Tess seeks vengeance on the men who sold her. Q made a blood-oath to deliver their corpses at Tess’s feet, and that’s just what he’ll do.

He may be a monster, but he’s Tess’s monster.

Add it on Goodreads and purchase on Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

If you thought Tears of Tess was dark, watch out—Pepper Winters takes us to much deeper depths in the sequel, Quintessentially Q.  If Tears of Tess is a dark fairy tale, QQ crosses firmly into the realm of horror.  The novel is an incredibly suspenseful, high-stakes thrill ride that takes its main characters—and readers—through a true whirlwind of emotions.  By the time the book ends, neither Tess nor Q are the same people they were before, and their relationship has been tested and completely transformed.

My favorite aspect of Quintessentially Q was also what made the story so raw and at times difficult to read: the author’s determination to show the gritty, unromanticized truth of the world of sex trafficking.  As Q and especially Tess go through terribly traumatic experiences, the author questions and upends the definitions of pain and pleasure, love and guilt, entrapment and freedom.  And the sacrifice Q makes near the end of the book showed a new kind of strength and growth for his character, which I really appreciated.

Like the first installment, this book contained some gorgeous imagery and suspenseful plot twists that keep pages turning.  In this novel, though, I think the characterization is even stronger, with both Tess and Q forced to face the traumas of their past and present, and to come to terms with the people they truly are inside.

I know this review is short and a little vague, but I really don’t want to say too much and spoil the story—it’s one you need to experience for yourself.

You can enter to win a signed copy of Quntessentially Q and a signed swag pack through Pepper Winter's Facebook page here, and one of two signed copies of QQ here.

Pepper Winters wears many roles. Some of them include writer, reader, sometimes wife. She loves dark, taboo stories that twist with your head. The more tortured the hero, the better, and she constantly thinks up ways to break and fix her characters. Oh, and sex… her books have sex.
She loves to travel and has an amazing, fabulous hubby who puts up with her love affair with her book boyfriends.
Her debut book Tears of Tess will be followed with Quintessentially Q. You didn’t think Q could stop so soon, did you? Her other two titles, Last Shadow and Broken Chance will be coming soon.
